Our mission is to convey in-depth basic knowledge of all aspects of otorhinolaryngology to our students. Since a great number of diagnoses in our discipline are "visual diagnoses" from ear microscopy or different forms of upper aerodigestive tract endoscopy, the teaching of these skills is a major component of our lectures, seminars and practice exercises.
In recent years, several didactic research studies have indicated the advantages of oral examination. That is why we and our partner divisions have introduced a joint oral final examination in required module XXIII Sinnesorgane und ihre Erkrankungen IundAllgemeinmedizin (Sense Organs and Their Diseases I and General Practice)), which has fortunately led to a fundamental change in learning behavior and the opportunity for long-term retention of learning content by the students.
The wide range of professional development opportunities at the Medical University of Graz is directed at a variety of occupational groups in the fields of medicine, science and research, nursing and health services. Most of the professional development courses can be completed while the participant is regularly employed and provide him/her with a valuable additional qualification.
